Kangpokpi, September 04 2020:
Totally against the Government new SOPs allowing returnees for home isolation after conducting RAT at District Screening Centre thereby closing down IQCs, the Kuki Inpi Kangpokpi District considered the move dangerous for a community spread and embarked on opening CQCs for returnees.
The civil society organizations of Kangpokpi under the aegis of Kuki Inpi Kangpokpi had a joint meeting yesterday at the conference hall of DC Office Kangpokpi with the district administration pressuring them to continue the previous mode of testing and functioning IQCs for returnees which the district administration denied it by informing the new instruction and SOPs from the higher authority.
Subsequently, the CSOs under the aegis of Kuki Inpi Kangpokpi decided to go for Community Quarantine Centres in all possible town/villages/area, etc.
through town committee, village chief and area CSOs considering the hazardous move of the Government which can be a factor for uncontrollable community spread.
According to Lamminlun Singsit, general secretary Kuki Inpi Kangpokpi, Rapid Antigen Test is not trustworthy as the accuracy rate is too low which is likely to give false-negative results and considering the onset of winter season preventive measures should be rather strengthened than relaxing it.
"Home isolation for returnees should not be the option whatsoever and this is known very well by one and all including the Government as to why it is not optional", said Lamminlun Singsit while adding that since the Government seems looking more for their conveniences the concerned town committee, village chiefs and respective area's CSOs needs to embark on opening all available CQCs for the returnees for the safety and more importantly to avoid community spread of the deadly virus.
It also instructed all returnees to inform their respective town committee, village chiefs, areas CSOs prior to their departure for a home to enable the concerned authority to arrange for the CQCs, while cautioning them to strictly follow the CSOs instruction to be under surveillance at least for 14 days at CQCs after RAT at DSC not under home isolation as instructed by the Government.
It further instructed that concerned town committee, village chiefs and area CSOs must authorize a vehicle to pick their respective returnees from the District Screening Centre and drop at the respective Community Quarantine Centre.
The CSOs under the aegis of Kuki Inpi Kangpokpi, meanwhile, appealed the district Medical Department to monitor the health condition and well being of the returnees at the CQCs at least through their respective ASHA workers and conducted free RT-PCR test on the requirement.
It also exhorted the people of Kangpokpi to maintain strict SOPs on social distancing, mandatory mask, etc.
while enthusiastically participating in avoiding community spread in the district.
