Imphal, May 04, 2013:
Women Action for Development, Imphal East has urged Police Department to investigate properly all the cases of rape and murder which took place in different parts of Manipur.
One woman was hacked to death by her own brother-in-law at Bishnupur this month while a 17 year old girl Mumtaz was found dead in the house of one Abdul Raza (25) at Urup Salangbam Mayai Leikai on May 3. Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club today, volunteers of WAD Imphal East questioned how Mumtaz was found dead at Abdul Raza's house.
Whether it was suicide or murder, it looked very suspicious because why did she go all the way from her Yairipok Phoudel home to Urup Salangbam Mayai Leikai.
The case merits a thorough investigation.
Even as there have been numerous cases of rape and murder, police have not been investigating into any of these cases with dedication.
That is why, no charge-sheets could be filed in any of these cases, decried the volunteers.
With no charge-sheets filed, none of the accused can be put to trial in Court, they added.
