Self Styled Capt of ZUF among six UGs, three OGW held by SF

Imphal, June 01 2011:
Six UGs and three overground workers of different outfits were apprehended by the security forces in separate counter insurgency operations in the last two days.
They also rescued a youth from joining to an UG group.
A statement of the Imphal West Senior SP today said that three UGs of different outfits were arrested by Imphal West police commandos in separate counter insurgency operations.
Two of them are KYKL and identified as Moirangthem Sonish @ Inao @ Sunil (33) son of late Tombi of Kakwa Nameirakpam Leikai and Irengbam Jugin @ Jugindro Singh (54) son of late Leiren of Keishamthong Top Leirak, the statement said.
They were arrested yesterday acting on credible information.
During spot verification, police revealed that both Sonish and Jugin were assigned to extort money from the general public and government offices.
Sonish used to transfer the extorted money through SBI account no.30288001274 .
Interestingly, a statement of the PIB (DW) Imphal also claimed that the two KYKL cadres were arrested by a combined force of 10 Assam Rifles of Loktak Brigade under Red Shield Division and Imphal West Police Commandos.
The statement of Imphal West Senior SP further said that a KCP (MTF) activists identified as Yumlambam Sanatomba @ Ingobi (35) son of Y Ibocha of Wangoi Thiyam Leikai was arrested by a combined force of Imphal West police commandos and 18 Sikh Regiment yesterday Meanwhile, the troops of 4/8 Gorkha Rifles under Red Shield Division in a joint operation with Bishnupur Police Commandos apprehended Self Styled Capt Joseph Gonmei (30) of Longmei Nonei IV, Tamenglong district of ZUF (Zeliangrong United Front) from Ngaryan area today.
Joseph revealed that he had joined NSCN (IM) in 2000 and was a Self Styled Sergeant Major stationed in Noney.
He further added that he is one of the founding members of ZUF formed after breaking away from NSCN (IM).
He admitted that he is the chief recruiting officer as also the town commander of Imphal and the training officer, another statement of the PIB (DW), Imphal said.
Troops of 11 AR of 59 Mountain Brigade of Red Shield Division also apprehended a NSCN (IM) cadre from Tamenglong town today.
The cadre identified as Sergeant Major Athiko son of Nipuni of village Kaibie was apprehended with one pistol, two rounds and a number of incriminating documents was recovered.
In another operation yesterday, troops of 22 AR of 57 Mountain Artillery Brigade apprehended three OGWs of UTLA from general area of Chhota Bekra Bazar.
They were identified as Mangtinkhual @ Mangkhual (27) son of Henkhosoi of Suangphunmun, Paumalsom @ Malsom, (25) son of Henkhosoi of Suangphunmun and Thanglelin Singson (36) son of Slitinkai, brother of Late James Kuki and present UTLA chief Robert Singson, of Saikulphai.
They were handed over to Jiribam PS, the statement added.
A PREPAK activist was also apprehended by troops of 29 Assam Rifles from Sita track of Chandel district yesterday around 4 pm while conducting a check to a Maruti van (AS 01 5073) .
He was identified as Taorem Manglem Chandra alias Boi alias, Finance (2 PC),31 yrs son of Taoreem Lokheon of Kodompokpi Manning Leikai, Imphal West.
One mobile phone and Rs.3000 were recovered from him.
He was later handed over to to Imphal West PS.
Meanwhile, troops of 29 Assam Rifles rescued a drug addict youth from joining to UG group during an operation at Molphei village of Chandel district yesterday On been interrogated, the individual revealed that, he was a drug addict and was been forced to join UG group.
He was identified as Thinkhothong Mate (19) son of Thongkhothon of Langol Housing Complex, Imphal.
He has been handed over to his parents through Tegnoupal police on humane gesture, a statement of the IGAR(S) said.
