MPP Vice President among five held by police

Imphal, October 30 2011:
A team of Imphal East District Police Commandos reportedly arrested five persons including Vice President of Manipur People's Party (MPP) Y Mangi from Khagempalli Panthak under Imphal Police Station at 7.30 am today.
The arrested five persons have been identified Y Mangi (60) s/o late Lukhoi of Luwangshangbam Mayai Leikai, Haobijam Ranjit alias Lukhoi (22) of Luwangshangbam, RK Jaisana of Luwangshangbam, Yengkokpham Thoi alias Lokeshwore of Khabam Leikai and Yumnam Bijen (22) s/o late Tombi of Khagempalli Panthak.
Though the police have not issued any official statement in connection with the arrest, a police source, however, disclosed that Y Mangi was coming along three other persons in a Bolero to the house of Yumnam Bijen at Khagempalli Panthak.
Following a tip off that they were coming to collect some fire arms, the Commando team rushed in and conducted a search operation.
During the course of the operation, two small fire arms were recovered from the house of Bijen.
The two fire arms belong to one UG group and they were coming to collect them.
One of the younger brothers of Bijen is a chief functionary of proscribed PREPAK, the police source informed.
Exact report of the arrest, however, could not be confirmed from the family members of the arrested persons.
