Kpi mourns Kumpipa's death, condolences pour in from across districts and States

Kpi/Tpl/CCpur, December 29 2018: The Kuki community in Kangpokpi District mourned the untimely demise of its Kumpipa who passed away yesterday noon at RIMS Hospital, Imphal due to heart ailment while condolence over his death from various organizations flooded social media.

At Kangpokpi District Headquarters, Kangpokpi Town Committee members conducted a condolence ceremony at its office this afternoon where they paid highest honour and tributes to the departed leader while observing a minute silence as a marked of respect.

Lunkhoseh Kipgen, Chairman KTC while mourning the death of Kumpipa Thangkhosei Haokip expressed sorrowness and hollowness of his people in Kangpokpi and paid his highest honour to the departed leader while Haopu Chongloi, Information Secretary of KTC read out the condolence message and Rev Y Haokip, vice chairman KTC prayed for solace of the bereaved family and the Kuki society in general.

Residents of Kangpokpi DHQs hoisted up black flag in half mast following the instruction of Kuki Inpi Kangpokpi District as a marked of mourning the death of Kuki's Kumpipa and tribute to the departed leader, whose lifeless body was brought to his native village at H Mongjang in Tengnoupal District this morning for his last rites from his temporary residence Sangnute Inn, Phaipijang Langol.

People of Saikul under the aegis of Kuki Inpi Saikul Gamkai and CSOs Saikul also mourned the death of Kumpipa Thangkhosei Haokip yesterday evening with candle light service and gun salute while similar mourning and observation of condolence has also been reported in many places of the district.

Candle light service mourning the death of Kumpipa Thangkhosei Haokip was also reported from across many other districts and States paying tribute to the departed Kuki leader while many Civil Society Organizations within the state and across the country and abroad come up with a condolence message which has flooded the social media since yesterday.

The Kuki Inpi Manipur and all its federates/frontal organizations also deeply mourned the sudden death of its beloved colleague and leader, an outstanding son of the Kuki people.

The sudden and untimely demise of our dear Kumpipa had us all reeling in shock, dismay and in utter disbelief.

Words failed us at this moment of time, as we try to come to terms with our loss, the harsh reality of it all.

The unexpected demise of Thangkhosei Haokip is indeed an irreparable loss to the entire Kuki-Chin-Mizo group of people in Manipur, and especially to the movement, the fight for political self-determination for the Kukis within the contours of the Indian Constitution, which is entering a crucial & critical stage, it added.

It also said that Thangkhosei Haokip was a true leader, a tall one, who led from the front; he was an affable leader who was accessible to all while adding that he was a leader who was uniquely qualified to give outstanding and dedicated leadership to the Kuki people, which he did with class and dignity for more than a decade.

It continued that the deceased leader was an experienced visionary leader who strived endlessly for the unification of the Kuki-Chin-Mizo ethnic groups and added that he was a towering figure whose leadership qualities and administrative capabilities were truly outstanding.

He was a leader who had won admiration across the social & political spectrum of our society and our communities for the intrepid spirit with which he faced the many challenges he encountered in a volatile state like Manipur.

It further said that the unwavering commitment of Thangkhosei Haokip for the political advancement of our people spread across the north-eastern region of India, and his utmost dedication to their honour was truly exemplary while adding that his death is a colossal loss for the Kuki Nation and left a big void which no one will be able to fill.

While condoling the bereaved family especially his wife Chingnou Haokip and only daughter Hatneisang Haokip with profound sadness and deep anguish, the Kuki Inpi Manipur prayed that the visitation of the Lord and the Holy Spirit be upon them as they come to terms with this personal tragedy and also conveyed that KIM stand shoulder to shoulder with them in this difficult time.

Meanwhile, Thadou Inpi-GHQ also expressed deep remorse over the untimely demise of Thangkhosei Haokip, Kumpipa, former President, Kuki Inpi Manipur and Chief of H Mongjang village stating that his demise is a great loss to the society, especially the Kukis as a Nation and his contribution to our people is priceless and never to be forgotten.

It also expressed deepest condolences to the bereaved family and prayed that the presence of the Almighty to fill the void in their lives.

Kuki Inpi Nagaland, Kuki Inpi Assam, Kuki Inpi Meghalaya, Kuki Inpi Tripura, Kuki Inpi USA, Kuki Inpi Delhi & NCR, Zomi Council, ZORO, Inpi Chamber of Commerce (ICC), Guwahati, Kuki Inpi Kangpokpi, Kuki Inpi Jiri and Tamenglong Zone, Kuki Inpi Saikul Gamkai, KSO-GHQ and its federating units, KSO Bangalore, KSO Delhi & NCR, Central Working Committee, KSRO, Khongsai Students' Organization-GHQ and many other student's bodies also expressed deepest condolence over the demise of Kumpipa Thangkhosei Haokip.

The two conglomerates of the Kuki UGs, United People's Front (UPF) and Kuki National Organization (KNO), entities of the Indo-Kuki Political Dialogue with the Central and State Government also expressed deepest condolence over the demise of Thangkhosei Haokip, Kumpipa.

Zomi Council condoles: The Zomi Council HQ, CCpur has expressed that the council is shocked and deeply saddened at the untimely demise of Pu Thangkhosei Haokip, the incumbent KUMPIPA of Kuki Inpi, Manipur (KIM) on December 28, said a statement issued by the apex Zomi bodies.

The departed leader has impeccable record in the service to humanity, giving his best for the upliftment of the Kuki/Zo people during his lifetime.

The Zomi Council and Kuki Inpi, Manipur have been walking together in resolving many issues, both within and outside the community, during his tenure as President of KIM.

He always stood for unity amongst the Zo people as blood brother and espoused the principle of coexistence in the state of Manipur, it said.

It also said that the Zomi Council extends heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved family, near and dear ones and prayed that the Almighty God consoled them and give the strength to bear their sorrow and griefs, and the understanding heart to accept God's decision in taking the life of one of the finest persons amongst us.

ACODOM and MCM condole: All Community Development Organisation Moreh (ACODOM) has mourned the sudden demise of Pu Thangkhosei Haokip.

A press release issued by ACODOM president RK Sanayaima said that the sudden demise of advisor and former president of Kuki Inpi is a big lost for the State and extended solidarity to the bereaved family members.

Meitei Council Manipur also condoled the demise of Pu Thangkhosei Haokip on December 28 and extended solidarity to the bereaved family members and prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace, said a statement of MCM general secretary, N Inaocha Meitei.
