Imphal, March 29 2018:
Demanding clarification from Chief Minister N Biren on his assertion that Manipur and the whole North East region have been a part of India since the time of Lord Krishna, volunteers of MSF and several womenfolk protested today at Keishampat by sitting on the road.
Speaking to media persons on the sideline of the protest, MSF working president Lucky Konsam asserted that the students' organization takes strong exception to the Chief Minister's assertion saying his statement distorted the history of Manipur and sold the Manipuri Nation as a whole.
He further stated that the Chief Minister should admit his blunder and come out with a clarification at the earliest.
If he cannot do so, he should resign from the post of Chief Minister in the interest of the people, he added.
He conveyed that the students' organization will continue to undertake democratic forms of agitation until the CM clarifies the matter or steps down from the post of Chief Minister.
Several placards which read as "We condemn distortion of history", "We have our own history as old as more than 2000 years", "A Chief Minister should think before he speaks" etc were displayed during the protest.
The protest caused great inconveniences to the travellers for sometime as it blocked the road.
