Imphal, April 27 2017:
Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) Chairman Jenchui Kamei and finance secretary Benjamin alias Gaichampou Pamei were expelled from the party for their anti-party activities in accordance to a decision of the party's central executive council adopted on April 5 this year, conveyed a press release issued by the outfit's information and publicity secretary H Kamson.
The press release issued to some local newspapers on April 20 claiming that all the financial matters should be dealt by former finance secretary Benjamin alias Gaichampou was totally null and void since the ZUF central executive council (CEC) had elected A Dangmei as new finance secretary for the financial years of 2017-2019 .
Jenchui Kamei, the 'defected chairman' lobbied BJP ticket for his own uncle without informing the ZUF higher authorities.
He secretly met the BJP leaders through the arrangement of his uncle (Adim Pamei) and gave assurance (verbal and written misusing the ZUF letterhead) to work for the BJP's success if the ticket was granted to his uncle.
ZUF had never taken any decision at any point of time to help a particular intending candidate while seeking BJP ticket but decided to support 'whoever got the BJP ticket'.
But the offender betrayed the common interest and was swallowed by nepotism.
After his uncle was officially announced as BJP candidate for Nungba A/C he started misusing the ZUF manpower and resources for his own vested interest by carrying out atrocities towards the Indian National Congress (INC) workers and non-congress political workers.
The actions on non-Congress political workers who did nothing against the ZUF interest were beyond the decision and understanding of the outfit.
The ZUF's decision was to 'boycott' only the INC candidate specially in Nungba A/C for his anti-Zeliangrong, anti-Naga and anti-tribal activities since 1980s to 2016 .
It informed that Jenchui Kamei is nephew and Gaichampou Pamei alias Benjamin is brother of the BJP candidate of Nungba AC.
Even as the ZUF leadership reviewed the situation, the offenders continued to misuse the ZUF manpower and resources to commit such horrendous acts as random shooting at private residences, torture of men and women, sending bullets to voters threatening to kill them after the election result was out and capturing polling booths in favour of BJP candidate etc.
Sometime later, the offenders started targeting voters/workers of non-Congress but definitely not against the INC that was supposed to.
In the meantime, Jenchui Kamei issued a press statement on March 7 to a vernacular daily stating that there was no boycott of the INC candidate.
But investigation revealed that all these happened because both the offenders were bought by the INC candidate with crore of money.
On the other hand, Gaichampou alias Benjamin Pamei misused all the ZUF's funds and diverted them for his brother's election.
Both of them turned down the proposal for the annual Central Executive Councils' meeting instead they started mobilization among the ZUF members by spreading wrong propa-gandas blaming the higher authorities for their failure and misconducts committed during the recently concluded 11th Manipur Legislative Assembly election.
Witnessing a gap between the offenders and higher authorities of the ZUF, the civil society organisations (CSOs) leaders tried to find out a solution and proposed a join meeting on April 4 at Binakandi, Assam but the offenders refused to attend it.
The spirit of Zeliangrong people cannot be bribed by money and the slogan 'Ringtelo' cannot be trampled by nepotism, it asserted.
It further appealed to all the Zeliangrong CSOs leaders, church leaders, all the business establishments and the general public to judge and not to cooperate in whatever form with the 'self styled gang' .
