Dimapur, March 27 2017:
The Naga People's Front (NPF), Central has accused corruption watchdog of Nagaland, Against Corruption and Unabated Taxation (ACAUT) of acting as the "sole authority" charging ACAUT of poking its nose into everything.
In a statement issued to the press today, the NPF said the attention of the NPF Central office has been drawn to the statement of the ACAUT published in the local dailies on Monday implicating the party president and Chief Minister Dr Shurhozelie Leizeitsu in connection with an unstarred question raised in the ongoing Assembly session.
"The ACAUT members are advised to first clean their own house first before they launch their hateful tirade against the democratically elected leaders and the Government," the NPF said in the statement.
According to the NPF , ACAUT has been poking its nose into everything "as if it is the sole authority to pass judgment on the daily affairs of the Government that is carried out in the best interest of the people" .
The NPF alleged that the ACAUT members, who talk against corruption, are in fact having close links with corrupt market monopolies.
"While trying to be the champions and crusaders against corruption, the NPF clearly understands the motive behind the members of ACAUT that they are players of back-door politics looking for easy entry by confusing the minds of the general public under the guise of raising corruption issues," the NPF said, adding, "To begin with, ACAUT members should declare their personal incomes and assets both movable and immovable, and the years of public service they have rendered if they are to talk of corruption-free society" .
The NPF statement then said that the public know each and every member of the ACAUT, "and they should not claim or act to be free from corruption".
NPF said that the party challenges ACAUT members to first face election and talk with the mandate of the people "rather than bark against the mandated Government every time it does something for the people" .
The NPF claimed that jobs are given to deserving Naga youth who possess requisite qualifications, and not to any outsiders or undeserving candidates.
It further said that the appointments are given to the unemployed youth only.
"When the honorable Chief Minister has stated on the floor of the august house that mistakes, if any, will not be repeated in the future, what more is expected of the Government of the day?," the NPF asked.
The NPF said it will appreciate any opinion and suggestion placed before the elected authority for corrective measures for the welfare of the people.
"However, we cannot agree to the dire consequential statements every time issues are raised spewing political venom against the NPF party.
That the ACAUT has been tirelessly working to bring down the Government and bring President's Rule in the State at the behest of vested interests, exposes their desperate overtures for political opportunity.
Moreover, the ACAUT inciting youth to vote against NPF party in 2018 clearly exposes their political intentions," the NPF added.
