Imphal, October 25 2010:
Ethno Heritage Council (HERICOUN) has expressed reservations over Centre's silence on the reported arrest of RK Meghen alias Sanayaima, Chairman of the banned outfit, UNLF.
HERICOUN in a press statement alleged, the silence testifies that India Government is still adopting the autocratic policy which was applied at the time of annexation of Manipur in 1949 .
Despite the fact that Assam Tribune has reported on Bangladeshi authorities' confirmation of Sanayaima's arrest, India Government is still keeping mum on the issue, HERICOUN said.
Advance Women Society, Awang Sekmai in another press release said that Meghen must be tried in proper manner according to the law of the land.
India Government must held responsible for any untoward incident arising out of the issue, it added.
Paona Bazar Women Welfare Organisation said that India Government must not delay in making public on whereabouts of UNLF Chief Sanayaima alias Meghen.
The country must not violate human rights, it added.
Chaokhat Khongthang Apunba Lup, Nambol said that delay in making official confirmation on the arrest of the UNLF Chief enrages the people of the State.
