Noney, November 24 2019:
A Slow Loris was rescued at Longmai-2 Lungkhuijang today.
The animal was rescued by volunteers of Longmai Nature Club.
Miller Kamson, an executive member of the club was bitten by the frightened Slow Loris during the rescue operation.
He was rushed to Primary Health Centre Noney for necessary treatment and he is now out of danger and stable, said club members.
The endangered Slow Loris is one of the few venomous mammals on earth, and the only venomous primate.

When the animal is frightened, it will raise its arms above its head and stick its face, very quickly, under its arm.
It's filling its mouth with secretions from its brachial gland.
The secretion will mix with the slow loris' saliva and become a venom, which can be fatal to human beings.
The Slow Loris has been handed over to Nepolean Rongmei, DFO Noney Forest Division.
