Tamenglong, October 24 2017:
The Tamah Students’ Union has clarified that they are not in any case against the opening of SBI branch in Tamei .
A press release issued by secretary of Tamah Students’ Union stated that when there was a provision to construct the new SDO/BDO complex including bank office and police barrack-type quarters at Tamei sub-division, the people of Tamah wholeheartedly supported the project by donating 5 acres of land, free of cost, with a vision of expanding Tamei Town for everyone in the area .
As there was an issue over the shifting of bank location, the Liangmai apex body, LNC and the people of Tamah were engaged to solve the matter under mutual understanding during a joint meeting held on October 20, it stated .
The statement further added that the District Magistrate of Tamenglong, three days before the meeting, called an emergency meeting, however, the Union failed to understand why the DC “boastfully controlled the meeting when a speaker raised question over his decision” .
During the meeting, Education Director of LNBA (M) urged the Government agency to arrest those who disturb the process os setting up the bank, it stated and added that the Union fails to know or understand the people who were disturbing the process .
The Union also said that the executive secretary of LNBA Rev Z Mairilungbou Niumai pulled down a village authority member of tamah while he was giving his opinion on the matter and added that he (Rev Z Mairilungbou Niumai) also put up voice vote as to who favours for opening the bank.
Eventually, the meeting went out of control and consequently the DC pronounced the decision abruptly and ended the meeting.
“The entire civil organisations that exists in Tamah namely Youth club, village authority, Liangmai Pui Baudi Tamah have unanimously resolved to support in bringing amicable solution on the issue as it is indestructible property of land.
As such, the decision of VACC Tamei sub division overshadowed Tamag village authority although it is under Tamei sub division”, it said .
It also expressed the desire to resolve the bank shifting issue first and bring the bank for the whole community in the sub division at the earliest.
The Union cautions any individual or organisation not to attribute any wrong allegation upon TSU, as the Union is not against the installation of the bank.
