Imphal, February 24 2014 :
A 24-year-old woman has lamented police inaction regarding constant mental and physical harassments meted out by her husband's family.
Revealing her woes to reporters, Leitanthem (Ningol) Laishram (Ongbi) Poonam said that her sister-in-laws had not only allegedly beaten up severely but also strangulated her on February 20 last.
As she could not bear such constant harassments and manhandling, she lodged an FIR at Imphal Police Station under FIR No 69 (2) 2014 under Section 498 A and 34 IPC.
However, police have not arrested the family members against whom she had complained.
Poonam said that she married with Laishram Dinesh (28) of Khoijuman, at present residing at Keishampat Leimajam Leikai in March 2010 .
As Poonam's husband Dinesh is jobless and addicted to intoxicants, his younger sister and elder sister put all the blame on Poonam instead of asking their brother to change his behaviour.
Moreover, they also allegedly bashed her up frequently when she protested.
As she was unable to bear all the mental and physical harassments she complained to the police but no action has been taken up till date.
