Active member of banned underground outfit apprehended

A team of Imphal East Commandos arrested one active member of a banned underground outfit yesterday night from Mantripukhri Bazar near Durga Mandir along with a car bearing registration number of Delhi.
As per a reliable information from Imphal East Commando, a team of Imphal East Commandos conducted counter insurgency operation at Mantripukhri Bazar yesterday night under the command of Inspector Kh Henry and under the overall supervision of IPS M Pradip, SP Imphal East as a part of the preventive measures taken up to avoid any unwanted incident during the ongoing Sangai festival.
During the operation, one active member of a banned underground outfit identified as Koijam Sunder (29yrs) s/o Shyam of Khewa Phurju Pukhao currently staying at Wangoi Luxmi Bazar was arrested from Mantripukhri Bazar area near Durga Mandir.
The team seized one mobile phone and a car bearing Delhi registration number from his possession by following necessary formalities.
On spot verification, he disclosed that recently he had extorted a sum of Rs 2 lakh from a Government office located at Sangakpham area and handed over the same to one unknown person sent by one of the leader of the outfit and also extorted another 20 thousand rupees from another Government office located at Keishampat area.
It has also been revealed that the arrested person is directly involved in collection of a huge amount of money from various Government and private hospitals, schools, colleges and Government offices for raising their party fund on the advice of the leaders of the outfit.
The arrested person along with the seized items have been handed over to the Heingang Police Station for taking up further necessary legal procedures against him.
