MU pays last tribute to Rishang Keishing

Imphal, August 23 2017:
Teachers, students, research scholars and non-teaching staff members of Manipur University paid last tribute to the former Chief Minister Rishang Keishing who passed away yesterday at 8 pm due to an illness .
In this regard, a condolence meeting was organized today in the committee room of the Vice-Chancellor Secretariat at 1 pm during which a two-minute silence was observed as a mark of respect to the departed soul .
In the presence of Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof Adya Prasad Pandey, Prof Shyam Kishore Sing read out the condolence message saying the State has lost an eminent personality, freedom fighter, veteran politician and a great leader .

Rishang Keishing was closely associated with Manipur University.
He was a member of 2nd Court of Manipur University from 2009 to 2012 and a member of 3rd Court from the year 2013 till his term as a Member of Rajya Sabha .
While addressing the gathering, Prof Shyam Kishore said, “The entire university community is shocked after hearing about the news of his sudden demise.
On behalf of the university community I pray to the Almighty God for the peace of his soul in the heavenly abode” .
