Aid provided to flood affected families

Flood affected villagers of Khangabok AC in Thoubal district have drawn the attention of the State Government to extend help and relief to them.
Vast areas of paddy field, several houses and fish farms located at the periphery of Ikop lake have been submerged by over flowing water from the lake due to heavy rainfall experienced in the past four-five days.
According to a joint statement issued by Voluntary Educational Development Social and Cultural Organisation (VEDSCO) and United Development Association (UDA), 2100 paris of Kiyam Loukol, 10,000 paris of Bihu Loukol, 2000 paris of Louonbi Loukol, 7000 paris of Keipha Loukol, 7000 paris of Salam Loukol, 3000 paris of Khong Makha Loukol, 300 paris of Maning Loukol and 200 paris of Tentharam were affected by flood.

With overflowing water from Ikop lake has engulfed most of the fish farms, fish farmers are expecting heavy loss this year.
Although embankment of Arong river from Leishangthem to Athokpam has already been completed, there is still an incomplete stretch of around 2 km between Khangabok and Tentha which causes flood at Khangabok area.
Meanwhile, social worker Thokchom Jadumani today distributed nylon nets and 20 kg each of rice to flood affected fish farmers of Khangabok.
