Sensitisation programme on agriculture schemes organised

A State level sensitisation programme on Different Schemes of Agriculture was organised by the Department of Agriculture at the Agriculture Office, Sanjenthong today with Agriculture Minister V Hangkhalian attending as chief guest, Additional Chief Secretary (Agriculture) Dr Suhel Akhtar as president and Agriculture Director Ph Rajendro as guest of honour .
Speaking at the function, Minister Hangkhalian said that there are various schemes related to agriculture and it is essential to make the farmers aware about these schemes .
He maintained that the various schemes under the Central Government are to help the farmers which in turn will boost the economy .
Under these schemes, the Government would bear 80 percent of the total cost while the remaining 20 percent would be borne by the farmers.
If the Government bears 100 percent of the total cost then it becomes a negative incentive and there would be no profit at all, he said .
When the farmers put some money of their own, they would become more cautious of their work and hence the work would be more productive, the Minister asserted .
He further said that agriculture, horticulture, veterinary, fishery and sericulture Departments should consult each other before taking up any work as per the instruction of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for fetching better results .
He called upon the farmers to make best use of the latest technology to yield abundant agricultural products .
Saying that Agriculture Department has various schemes for the welfare of farmers and added that, Ph Rajendro stressed on the need to aware the farmers about the schemes .
He assured to extend all possible help in solving the hardship encountered by the farmers.
