As part of the ongoing process for building better cooperation between civil and AR authorities an interaction programme between Commandant 18 AR and village chief and secretary of Saivom village and others was organised yesterday that focused on development of village, military civic action project, relations of local populace with security forces, Kut festival and problems of the villagers, said a release of PRO IGAR (S).
Financial assistance was provided to Saivom village chief with the humane gesture appreciated by the villagers, the release added.
In a similar programme, authorities of 19 Assam rifles of 10 Sector under HQs IGAR (S) donated Usha sewing machine to Happy Valley village authorities today during which the OC 'A' Coy, 19 AR also assured to the locals that more such projects would be undertaken in the future.
The PRO also informed of 21 AR authorities donating ration items for inmates of Mission Blind School, Heikakpokpi in Chandel district on Sep 20.The School functioning with funding from Churches and NGOs has been adopted by the Assam Rifles, it added.
Meanwhile, 4 AR organised an awareness programme for school children on 'conjunctivitis' at Mantripukhri wherein a team of medical officers and paramedical staff examined the children and provided medicines free of cost.
