Cataract detection camp held at Lilong PHC

National Programme For Control of Blindness (NPCB) Thoubal under the aegis of National Health Mission Thoubal organised a one day cataract detection camp at Lilong PHC, Thoubal today.
Meanwhile, individuals who are in need of eye operation and selected during the camp will undergo surgery on June 25 at District Hospital Thoubal for free, reports our correspondent.
District Nodal Officer, NPCB Thoubal Ksh Memcha, who attended the camp, stated that cataract detection camps has been organising as part of Blindness Control Programme at different areas of the State.
Maintaining that the camp is being organised for the first time this year, Memcha maintained that such camp was also organised in different parts of the district before which benefited numerous people in rendering eye operation for free and also helped in correcting the sights of the people.
The camp will be organised at CHC Heirok on June 29, she informed.
The beneficiaries selected, on the June 29 camp, for free operation will undergo surgery on July 2 at district hospital Thoubal, she said and added that the camp will also be organised at five other locations in the near future.
Out of the total 110 people which were screened during the camp, 25 were detected for presence of cataract.
Memcha went on to state that, under the NPCB programme, spectacles with suitable power glasses were distributed to students of different schools in Thoubal district, who has refractive error, after conducting proper screening.
While conduction eye screening camp at 25 schools for 5303 students this year, 708 were found with refractive error, she remarked.
