AIFMP condemns violence against journalists

The All India Federation of Master Printers (AIFMP), the premier print body of the country along with 69 print associations spread across the country, have condemned the killing of three journalists at Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh in the last two months while on duty.
Calling the Government and the allied law and order machinery to provide security to journalists, AIFMP in a statement recalled that Akshay Singh, a special correspondent of Aaj Tak died under mysterious circumstances on July 4, 2015 .
He was following the alleged scam in the Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board (MPPEB) of Vyapam, said the statement and added that on July 4, he visited Meghnagar in Jhabua to talk to the family members of scam accused, Namrata Damor, who too was found dead at Ujjain in 2012 .
Earlier, on June 22 this year, Sandeep Kothari a 40 year old journalist from Madhya Pradesh was allegedly murdered by three persons involved in illegal mining, added the statement.
Kothari was kidnapped and set ablaze apparently over his refusal to withdraw a Court case, added AIFMP.
Moreover on June 1, another journalist, Jagendra Singh was allegedly set on fire by 'local policemen and goons' under the directions of Uttar Pradesh Minister of Dairy Development, Ramamurthy Varma in Shahjahanpur, Uttar Pradesh.
Jagendra, who worked in the Hindi media for over 15 years had exposed land grabbing, illegal mining operations and sexual assault of women in Shahjahanpur and had evidence against the said Minister.
Anand Limaye, the honorary general secretary of AIFMP, while strongly condemning the killings demanded a thorough inquiry and to nail the culprits.
