Mega power project in Manipur soon

Manipur will soon have a new mega power project to be funded by the World Bank and Government of India.
Manipur State Power Company Ltd (MSPCL) Director N Sarat disclosed this during a workshop on "Environmental & Social Policy and Procedure; North East Region Power System Improvement Project (NERPSIP)" held at Imphal Hotel.
He said plans are afoot to take up NERPSIP in six States of North East, including Manipur, as a joint venture by World Bank and the Centre.
Sikkim and Arunachal are not integrated in the proposed mega power project, said Sarat who also informed that the Detailed Project Report (DPR) and other necessary steps have been prepared for the same.
N Sarat said the project will be undertaken by the Power Grid Corporation of India.
This project aims to improve the power transmission and distribution capacity of Manipur, informed Sarat.
