Imphal, November 20 2012:
Sensing people's apprehension for possible fuel oil shortage in the State which is evident from the long queues witnessed in front of petrol pumps, CAF&PD Minister M Okendro today made surprise visits to different oils pumps to check whether fuel oils allotted to oil pumps from IOC's depot are distributed properly to the public.
During his surprise visits, the Minister found some oil pumps not distributing fuel oils even as they have fuel oils in stock while some other oil pumps did not have any oil in stock.
Furious over the inability to produce daily sales records, Okendro instructed relevant officials to shut down the defaulting oil pumps immediately.
The inspection led by Okendro included IOC's State Level Coordinator KI Singh, Imphal West DC and high-ranking officials of CAF&PD Department.
They also visited Chingmeirong IOC depot and instructed depot Manager SI Singh not to take much time while allotting fuel oils to oil pumps.
Later speaking to media persons, Okendro maintained that there is no shortage of all essential commodities including petrol and diesel.
There is no need to worry for fuel oil shortage because of the KSDC's bandh.
"Keep faith in the Government and don't indulge in panic buying", Okendro appealed.
If necessary, security would strengthened for escorting oil tankers.
Fuel oils would be available round the clock at PCTC, Krishna Premi Oil City, Moirangkhom and Tidim Service Station.
He also stated that befitting action would be initiated against Kusum Service Station.
He appealed to all oil pumps not to indulge in hoarding fuel oils.
