Rivers flow above warning level, man killed in wall collapse

Imphal, September 20 2017:
All major rivers draining Manipur valley are now flowing above warning level and their water levels are still rising .
Imphal River, Nambul River, Thoubal River, Lilong River and Nambol River have crossed warning level .
Meanwhile, on account of water flowing backward from Nambul River, the bank of Khabi River has breached over a length of 30 feet and water gushing out from the breached portion has inundated some houses and 20 paris of paddy fields, informed a source .
On the other hand a 50 year old man was killed when a retaining wall collapsed at Poulea Council area in Senapati today, reports NNN.
The deceased has been identified as one Thaizii s/o Late Sahrii.
The incident happened at about 4 pm .
According to reports the half of the wall collapsed while the victim was cleaning a drainage besides his kitchen.
He was killed instantly.
Reports said that due to incessant rain the whole day a landslide started to occur behind the victim’s house which led to the collapse of the retaining wall .
Neighbours rushed to the spot to rescue him but to no avail.
The people somehow recovered the victim’s body at about 4.30 pm .
Officials of the district administration including DC Athem Muivah and ADC members visited the spot and have extended assistance to the victim's family.
