Silchar, June 19 2020:
The Manipuri Youths' Front of Assam (MYFA) has appealed to all concerned to give Chairman seat of OBC Board of Cachar district, Assam to Meitei (Manipuri) .
In a statement, the MYFA alleged that the Chairman seat of the OBC Board was always given to Meitei (Manipuri), but the present BJP Government of Assam tried to eliminate the said community from the seat.
"For hurting the sentiment of Manipuri of Assam by the incumbent Government, we will give befitting reply to them in the upcoming Assembly election, said MYFA.
Claiming that the Meitei (Manipuri) were also left out from the OBC's benefits, the front said that they will file an RTI to know the proper work process of the OBC Board.
"Manipuri community has also been included in the OBC list of the State and Central Governments and above this there is not a single MLA or MP of Manipuri in Assam due to which being a largest OBC majority in the Cachar district, the Chairman seat of OBC Board should be provided to Meitei (Manipuri) as like other districts where chairman seat is provided to other communities," MYFA continued.
