Ukhrul revels in Shirui Week observance

Essay writing, drawing and eating of pork competition marked the second day of Shirui Lily Week.
Revellers from Ukhrul and other parts of the State continue to throng the abode of State flower, Shirui Lily since the opening day of the Shirui Lily Week.
The visitors relish with traditional cuisines and the local brewed beverages (khor).
Shirui village is just 14 kilometres away from Ukhrul town.
Shirui has much to offer to its visitors.
The gentle wind that blows the lush green leaves is a solace for weary adventurers who tried to ascend the Shirui peak.
The mountain is not just the abode of Shirui Lily but a home for many rare and endangered species including varieties of orchids, medicinal herbs etc.
The whole mountain would look like snow clad mountain from early June with the flowering of Summer flower, Kashong Horamwon in local dialect.
The third day of the Lily Week will see a live concert and other entertainment items at Town Hall, Ukhrul on May 20.Tangkhul comedian Pakmi is also said to take the stage.
