Kangpokpi, January 17 2016:
The sub-treasury office at
Kangpokpi should neither be
shifted nor abolished, said
Sadar Hills Civil Society
Organizations today.
The State Government
should upgrade the existing
office into a full-fledged treasury
office instead of
establishing a new office at
Saitu-Gamphazol, the organisations
added.
The CSOs would oppose
shifting or abolishing the existing
sub-treasury office at
Kangpokpi tooth and nail if
the Government is not willing
to establish a full-fledged
treasury office, it said.
The CSOs took this decision
in a joint meeting held
today at Kangpokpi.
The meeting was attended
by Kuki Inpi Sadar Hills,
KSO Sadar Hills, KWU
Sadar Hills and TSA Sadar
Hills.
Speaking to media persons
after the meeting, CSOs
spokesperson Lamcha
Chongloi said that the joint
meeting minutely discussed
the issue.
It may be mentioned that
Chief Minister Okram Ibobi
while speaking at the inauguration
of 33/11 KV power
sub-station at Saitu-
Gamphazol on January 13
announced to set up a new
treasury office at the area.
"If the State Government
is willing to do so for the
welfare of the people, they
should upgrade the existing
sub-treasury office at
Kangpokpi into a full-fledged
treasury office and set up
another sub-treasury office at
Saitu-Gamphazol", Lamcha
Chongloi said.
While appreciating the
State Government under the
leadership of Okram Ibobi for
implementing various development
programmes in Sadar
Hills, the CSOs urged the
Chief Minister to avoid any
plan to create misunderstanding
and mutual disharmony
among the people of Sadar
Hills.
