AMSU decries police demand

The AMSU has strongly condemned the alleged act of demanding money by police from two students injured in a road mishap.
According to AMSU Human Resource Development secretary Manjit Sarangthem, three students riding a Honda Activa (MN-01C/3512) were injured when they were knocked down by a mini truck of MN-01/5440) allotted to Lamsang police station at Heibongpokpi Bazar at about 3 pm of June 2 .
The injured students have been identified as Angom Romeo (16) s/o Roben of Phayeng Makha Leikai, Asem Krishnanda (16) s/o Angouba of Heibongpokpi Mamang Leikai and Angom Leninsana (16) s/o Nabachandra of Singda Bazar.
Out of them, Romeo sustained critical injuries on the head, collar bone and right knee and he is still undergoing treatment in Shija Hospital's ICU.
After police have given Rs 50,000 for treatment of the three injured students, they demanded Rs 50,000 each from the families of Krishnanda and Leninsana saying that the amount would be given to Romeo's family for his treatment.
Even though the accident happened 15 days back, police have not come to enquire about the injuries suffered by the three young students, Manjit said.
The mishap occurred as Romeo was returning home after giving entrance examination for admission in class XI at Millennium Institute of Sciences.
It is reported that Romeo has been selected and his seat for admission at a latter date.
