The All
Manipur College Teachers'
Association (AMCTA), an
apex body of the college
teachers has raised strong
objection against the
proposed Manipur Higher
and Technical Education
Code.
In a statement, the joint
secretary of AMCTA Dr
M Imocha Singh said that
like the earlier Manipur
Education Code, 1982, the
new Code should not apply
to Government colleges and
a 22-page views and
comments was submitted to
Education Minister Dr Kh
Ratankumar by unit college
(s) after an executive
meeting of the association
held on May 11 at Imphal
College.
He further stated that the
Code would affect State
Government colleges as
well as weaker sections of
the society and privatisation
of Government colleges in
hills and rural areas would
lead to its extinction in
those areas.
