10 days smartphone film making course at Manipur University from Nov 4

Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) Pune, under its Skilling India in Film & Television (SKIFT), in association with Department of Mass Communication, Manipur University, will organise a 10 days Smartphone Film Making Course at Manipur University from November 4 to 14.A notice issued in this regard informed that the course will begin from 9 am to 4 pm and the number of participants will be 40 (although the course will be conducted only if minimum 30 participants is reached) and out off the said 40 seats, 20 seats are reserved for participants directly associated with Manipur University which include present students, staff, teachers etc while the remaining 20 seats are reserved for outsiders.
It continued that the participants must be 18 years or above in age as on Nov 1, 2019 and should be 12th pass (10th pass in exceptional cases) For participants associated with Manipur University, the course fee will be Rs 4,500 per participant (including GST) while that for outsiders will be Rs 5,500/- per participant (inclusive of GST) and the fee can be either paid in cash or through demand draft.
The selection will be done through first come first served basis and the faculty will be Ajmal Jami, it mentioned adding that the last date for submitting application is October 28 by 3 pm.
Interested participants can apply by taking a print out of the application form from FTII website (www.ftii.ac.in) or Manipur University website (www.manipuruniv.ac.in), filling all the details and depositing the necessary fee at the office of the Department of Mass Communication, Manipur University and obtaining a receipt of the same during office hours (10 am to 4 pm) .
It instructed the interested participants to take a photocopy of the said receipt and attach it to the application form along with photocopies of their highest (last) educational qualification and submit them all to the Department office in favour of the Accounts Officer, Film & TV Institute of India, Pune (payable at Pune) to Dr Meenakumari Angom, Head of Department, Department of Mass Communication, Manipur University on or before the deadline.
Explaining that "Application for Smartphone Film Making Course", should be properly written on the envelope of application at the top left, it conveyed that applications without required demand draft/ on-line course fee or applications received after due date and time etc will be rejected.
It continued that the medium of instructions will be English and Hindi and explained that participants are expected to have adequate knowledge of English and/or Hindi as regards to reading, writing and speaking and added that all the selected candidates will be informed by email and once admission is offered, the same cannot be cancelled.
Course fee of selected candidates is non�refundable but course fees of all non�selected candidates will be returned within 4 days, it added.
The notice conveyed that all participants will be given a participation certificate on successful completion of the course and for this, a minimum 90 percent attendance is mandatory.
There is no provision of accommodation and participants need to make their own lodging and boarding arrangements including lunch on course days, it mentioned adding that for any queries, an email can be sent to [email protected] or a call can be made to 09923242654 (Prof Sandeep Shahare, FTII Pune) preferably on weekdays between 10 am to 6 pm.
Participants can also call Dr Natasha, Associate Professor from Manipur University at 7005401549.The notice stated that the course content and structure include lessons like ways of seeing (how we see the world around us), how can we see this in terms of picture and sound, breaking up of this process into basic building blocks, the basic blocks-shots-with descriptions.
It will also include the language of cinema like shots, camera angles and movements (hows and whys), the phone camera (how to use it optimally) as well as bringing out the creative eye mainly through tripod and hand-held shooting (using a selfie stick, gimbal for stabilizing shots), focus, aperture, shutter speed ,frame rate, white balance and colour temperature It will also include lessons on aesthetics and art (composition, basics and rules of composition, painting with light, optimizing available light , using shaping , cutting light, selective highlighting, underplaying with light, sound, as an integral component, recording sound optimally using on-cam microphone, and usage of sound, natural ambient sound, speech, dialogues, interviews ,voice-overs , music and sound effects, linking shots together into sequences to express an idea, emotion, impression , thought ,action, weaving sequences together to express a story line, developing a script that uses linkages of pictures and sounds to make a cohesive structure that communicates the story) as well as story board (examples of mobile film making and shot , basic sequence shooting exercises, planning the shoot where each group will work on a separate film as group exercise, editing, basic methodology, art, aesthetics, translating the separate shots from the script into an audio visual entity through the editing process and finally review and final screening),
