Trees planted on Van Mahotsav day

Imphal, July 15 2013:
Students and teachers of Master Sankey English school, Irilbung along with the Manipur forest officials today planted several trees inside the school campus in connection with the month long 64th Van Mahotsav observation, 2013 .
The tree plantation programme was organised by the Master Sankey English school and Joint Forest Management Committee, Keirao Bitra under the aegis of Nongmaiching Forest Range Office, Government of Manipur.
Several trees of local varieties were planted during the event, informed a statement.
L Ranjit Singh, Forest Range Officer of Nongmaiching Forest Range; K Somi Singh, Administrator of Master Sankey English school; Ch Deben, Beat Officer of Irilbung Forest Beat Office and L Jayanta Singh, Headmaster, Master Sankey English school graced the function as the chief guest president and guests of honour
respectively.
Participated by about 300 students, a spot painting competition was also held on the theme "Trees for water".
Prizes including certificates, cash and stationery items were also given away to the best painters, the statement added.
