ZB, ZSUM condemn Khumji incident

Zeliangrong Baudi, AMN has strongly condemned the indiscriminate firing at Khumji village on January 12 which left one civilian death while three persons sustained bullet injuries.
"We condemn the such coward and barbaric act which occurred just one day before Dimki Assembly Session of ZB, AMN which was scheduled to be held on January 13 at Makhuam village, near Noney (Longmai) Bazaar.
The incident has also disrupted the arrival of the from different parts of Assam, Manipur and Nagaland," ZB (AMN) general secretary Dr Gairiangmei Maringmei said.
Such incident of killing and indiscriminate firing is not the first time that has occurred in Zeliangrong inhabited areas.
Killing of innocent civilians has taken place many times in the past as well.
We appeal to the group(s) involved in such barbaric act to refrain from violence in Zeliangrong inhabited areas.
We also urge the authorities concerned to take up measures and protect and the innocent citizens, he added .
Zeliangrong Students' Union Manipur (ZSUM) has also vehemently condemned the atrocious act of firing in Khumji-2 .
In a statement, ZSUM urged the responsible group(s) or organisation(s) to uplift peace and tranquillity in State and refrain from such act in future.
The statement also extended solidarity to the bereaved family members.
