Court remands habitual offender to police custody

The Special Judge POCSO Bishnupur remanded a 27 years old habitual offender to five days police custody on the charge of raping a minor girl last month, yesterday.
Accused Irom Chingkheinganba Meitei (27), s/o Irom Brojen singh of Tangjeng Sabal Maning Leikai Ward number 7 Sugnu was arrested in connection with the rape case on July 3 at around 4 pm, but he escaped from the lock up of the Bishnupur police station on the intervening night of July 12 and July 13.Four different cases are being registered against the accused under POCSO Act and Immoral Trafficking Prevention Act at Kakching, Sugnu and Yairipok Police Stations.
He was arrested again by Bishnupur police from Thoubal Athokpam area on August 11 at around 6.45 pm.
The accused was produced before the Court by a team of Bishnupur women police station along with a prayer for 5 days police custody remand.
The case was registered against the accused based on a complaint lodged by the mother of the victim.
As per the complainant, her daughter was sexually assaulted by the accused on July 3 last at the approach road of Omba Garden Moirang inside a four wheeler vehicle.
The accused allegedly abandoned the victim later near INA Moirang after snatching her mobile phone.
The Court on perusal of the case record and after hearing the submission of the IO remanded the accused to five days police custody.
