Monsang Students' Union, Imphal celebrates silver jubilee

Imphal, October 12 2019:
Sirti Thiimjiitam Sourkhe (Monsang Students' Union), Imphal celebrated its Silver Jubilee under the theme "Proclaim the Favourable Year of the Lord" at Tribal Research Institute, Imphal.
The event was graced by member ADC/CDL S Manglem as the chief guest; Ng Gilbert, president SUR as the functional president and Ng Benithan, founding president STS, Imphal as guest of honour.
Dr K Onand, Convenor of the celebration committee gave a welcome note followed by an introductory speech and presentation from Ng Rameson, president STS Imphal.
Speaking at the occasion, Ng Lawrence, General Secy STS congratulated the Monsang Students Union, Imphal for successfully organizing the Silver Jubilee while Ng Benithan, founding president, STS Imphal recalled the early days on the need to have a common platform resulting in the establishment of STS, Imphal in 1994.He further encouraged the student's community to take serious efforts in achieving their goals as they alone can uplift the society.
Ng Gilbert president SUR, in his presidential speech, took back to the time where Monsang people used to live in Imphal during 1950s-60s.He stated that, to be successful in education, one should sacrifice certain hobbies and should strive for excellence in their professions.
Member ADC/CDL, Sh Manglem, while delivering the speech, emphasized on the significant role of students in nation building.
Later, a souvenir was released as part of commemorating 25 years of its existence.
Colourful cultural presentation such as folk songs and dances were showcased to mark the day.
Meritorious students were also felicitated during the function followed by words of appreciation from Sh Clive, General Secy STS, Imphal.
