First graduation day of RIMS Dental College held

The Graduation Day celebration of 2012-2016 (first) batch of Dental College, Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal was held today at Jubilee Hall, RIMS .
The Dental College, Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal, has produced 43 BDS doctors as its first batch today .
Speaking as the chief guest of the function, Education Minister Th Radheshyam asked the newly passed out dental doctors to act as a care giver and serve the people of the State, especially in the far flung and remote areas of the State .
He emphasized on the need to maintain good relationship with patients and said that doctors need to learn team work and strictly adhere to ethical practices .
Stating that the passed out doctors will also face tough challenges in various ways, Radheshyam said that loving the profession, working with zeal and enthusiasm and focusing on their job will enable them cope with the challenges .

Asserting that medical and dentistry profession is a noble job, the Minister congratulated the newly passed out BDS doctors and urged them to strive to become saviours and source of joy for the sufferers .
Delivering his guest of honour speech, Professor Subhash Chandra Parija, Director, Jawaharlal Institute of Post Graduate Medical Education and Research, Puducherry said that the new BDS passed out doctors should aim to be productive and contribute their best to the society .
The BDS passed out doctors must consider themselves as just beginning their journey.
They should as such prepare to learn more .
Mentioning art of interpersonal relationship and communication as a main component of medical profession, Parija further appealed the BDS passed out doctors to respect elders, seniors, patients and all concerned .
He also maintained that quality of job/service as another essence of medical profession and asked them to be responsible and understand the feelings of patients .
RIMS Director, Professor A Santa Singh while speaking at the function announced that the monthly stipend of BDS students studying in Dental College, RIMS will be increased to Rs 17,000 from the present Rs 10,000 from next year .
He also urged the Government to start PG course soon at the Dental College .
B Praveen Reddy, Principal, Dental College, RIMS who also spoke at the function said that RIMS is a great boon to North East and particularly to Manipur .
Oath taking of the dental graduates and distribution of certificates and prizes marked the function.
