Eight UGs, one OGW arrested

Imphal, November 11 2014:
Based on a specific intelligence input regarding movement of UG cadres, troops of 11 PARA (SF) alongwith 44 Assam Rifles of 10 Sector AR under the aegis of Hqs IGAR (South) launched a joint operation at Aishi, Molvailup and Tuiphei villages and apprehended one PLA cadre and five UNLF cadres.
The UNLF cadres have been identified as Army No 1915 sgt Irengbam Tomba Singh alias Maigeitakpa, Army No 1882 cpl Keisham Herojit Meitei alias Loktak, Army No 2288, L/cpl Laishram Naocha Singh alias Amuthoi, Army No 2096, L/cpl Heishnam Thoi Meitei alias Chingkhatpa, Army No 2407 pvt Haobam Malamnganba Meitei Chingkhei and Army No 3078 cpl and PLA cadre as Vicky Thangjam Sanjit Meitei alias Vicky.
Two AK- 56 rifle and 149 live rounds of 7.62 mm were recovered from their possession.
The apprehendees alongwith the recovered items have been handed over to the Singjamei police station, said a press release issued by PRO Hqs IGAR (S) .
In another operation, troops of 22 Assam Rifles of 28 Sector AR under the aegis of Hqs IGAR (South) established a vehicle check post at Sora village and apprehended one KCP (MC) cadre yesterday.
He has been identified as self styled sgt Sirathan Awungbi alias Hitler alias Raiban alias John (23), s/o Reichenmei Awungbi Shokvao village in Ukhrul district.
The apprehendee has been handed over to Kakching police station.
In yet another operation, troops of 20 Assam Rifles and 6 DOGRA of 26 Sector AR under the aegis of Hqs IGAR (South) launched a joint operation at Pallel bazar and apprehended an over ground worker of UKLF yesterday.
He has been identified as Paolen Kipgen alias Lelen alias Chingin Khomba (20) s/o Chongkham Jaram Singh of Kangpokpi.
One mobile handset and a timber association's receipt were recovered from his possession.
The apprehendee alongwith the recovered items have been handed over to Kakching police station, added the press release.
In another incident, a team of Thoubal district police commando unit conducted a search operation at Kakching Uchan Makhong Leikai on November 9 and arrested an active member of PLA/RPF along with incriminating articles.
He has been identified as Khumukcham Romen Singh (41) s/o Kh Amujao Singh of Kakching Khunou Uchan Makhong Leikai, according to a statement issued by the PRO, Manipur Police Department.
