CM stresses significance of Sciences

Chief Minister Okram Ibobi initiated the Science Meet 2015 today at the National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT), Akampat campus today.
The five-day long science meet is being organised jointly by the National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT), Manipur Science and Technology Council (MASTEC) and science NGOs.
The meet would witness about 60 exhibits by students from different schools.
Speaking at the occasion CM Ibobi remarked that the theme of the Science Meet 2015 'Science for Nation building' is quite appropriate.
Stating that the development of a Nation is measured with the advancement in science and technology, the CM advocated maximum research in science to invent newer technologies.

There are so many schemes and fellowships for scientific research in India and abroad.
Student must attempt to benefit from these schemes so they could become a prominent scientists, the CM added.
The Science meet, the CM opined, besides popularizing science and tech, creates a platform for exchange of scientific ideas among scientists, technologists and science lovers which in turn would help bring economic development in the State.
The CM further appealed to all the students, teachers and other science lovers of the State to contribute in developing science and technological activities for a better Manipur.
Works Minister Dr Kh Ratankumar Singh, S&T Secretary Nidhimani Tripathi, MASTEC Director Th Surendranath and NEILIT Director Th Prameshwar Singh were also present at the inaugural function held today.
