Imphal, March 10 2016:
Expressing concern over the hazardous effects of waste disposed along Porompat DC Complex road, the Modern College Students' Union today warned of launching agitation if the waste dumped along the road is not cleared up by the authority concerned within 10 days.
Porompat DC Complex road is one major road used by the people from all walks of life.
Waste dumped by the people has been piling up for quite a long time and has caused great inconvenience to the commuters, said Modern College Students' Union general secretary Chipemmi Keishing.
Teachers and students of the college have been facing difficulty in commuting to and fro the college.
Apart from foul odour emanating from it, the road would become murky during the rainy season, Chipemmi said.
The union had also submitted a written request to the DC to take up prompt steps and clear the waste.
Though the staff members at the DC Complex assured of apprising the matter to the Imphal Municipal Corporation, nothing has been done till now to address the issue.
The college playground which is supposed to be utilised by the students for any outdoor activity has become a horse grazing field.
Some people have been setting their horses free in the college playground to graze.
Considering various outdoor activities of the college and upcoming college sports meet, the owners are requested to claim their horses at the earliest, Chipemmi Keishing added.
