Imphal, January 10 2013:
AMSU has expressed serious concerned over the fast increasing fees of private schools and Government's total indifference to the practice which has literally converted education as lucrative business enterprises.
Speaking to media persons at their office this afternoon AMSU president Thokchom Suresh said that they had appealed to all school authorities to send their fee structures on or before January 10 ahead of the forthcoming academic session.
In response to the appeal, only 13 schools sent their fee structures.
He again appealed to all the schools to send their fee structures, and also not to charge unreasonably high admission and monthly fees.
Taking strong exception to Government's inaction when education has been converted into lucrative business enterprises by private players, Suresh observed that unreasonably high fees have been causing severe hardships to many parents in addition to raising the rate of school drop-outs.
Existing fee structures of schools would be analysed at a forum of intellectuals on January 13.Resolutions adopted by the forum would be forwarded to the Chief Minister in the form of a memorandum.
