Imphal, August 09:
Reacting strongly to the statement issued by Zeliangrong Union (ZU-AMN) few days ago with regard to the United Naga Council (UNC) and its president Samson Remmei, the Zeliangrong Students' Union, Manipur (ZSUM) and All Zeliangrong Students Union (AZSU) have said on Saturday that Zeliangrong Baudi (ZB) represents the Zeliangrong people in the UNC.
Both ZSUM and AZSU said that they are "extremely unhappy to issue this rejoinder to the press statement of the Zeliangrong Union (AMN) which appeared on the 5th of August 2008 publication of The Sangai Express".
GH Newmeh of ZSUM and Joshua Dangmei of AZSU said that there is no question of nonrecognition of United Naga Council (UNC) by the ZU "because Zeliangrong Baudi represents Zeliangrong people to the UNC and consequently Zeliangrong Baudi (ZB) is accepted as the rightful body and has participated in the UNC election held on July 21, 2008".AZSU and ZSUM further stated that UNC chief Samson Remmei is a reputed former Zeliangrong students' leader and democratically elected as president of the United Naga Council.
"That, we don't see any reason over the allegation of ZU that Zeliangrong people are being neglected by the UNC since the month of February 2008," clarified the AZSU and ZSUM while adding, "Zeliangrong Students' Union, Zeliangrong public along with the cultural teams participated at the Lui-Ngai-Ni on February 15, 2008 held at Chandel headquarters".
Both AZSU and ZSUM urged all the Zeliangrong people not to pull down any Zeliangrong leader who has already made a mark in the climbing ladder.
The ZSUM and AZSU also urged the Zeliangrong organisations not to wash dirty linen in public.
