Imphal, December 08 2020:
With an effort to tap the water sources for uninterrupted supply of drinking water in Imphal valley areas, PHE Minister Losii Dikho visited Dolaithabi Barrage today.
The Minister stated that with the approaching dry season, to curb the water scarcity issues, there is a serious need to identify water bodies and potential water sources.
These water bodies will be crucial in supplying the water mega treatment plants, water supply schemes and other facilities functioning and those under construction, he added.
The Department is physically identifying more water sources and water bodies to provide uninterrupted water supply in all corners of the State, he informed.
Apart from such visits by the PHE Minister himself, department officials are making sure that the water sources are available to feed the water supply systems, water reservoirs and water treatment facilities in the State, added an official.
PHE Minister Losii Dikho assured that such identification process will continue especially in the valley areas to deal with water scarcity issues and provide sufficient water to the supply facilities.
He further stated that all issues to achieve the goal "drinking water to all by 2022" will be dealt seriously without delay.
