Sanamahi Kiyong inaugurated

Foundation For University of Sanamahi Culture and Laiyingthou Sanamahi Thougal Kanglup organised "Sanamahi Kiyong Hongba" (inauguration of Kiyong-Temple) Saturday at Selloi Langmai Ching (Nongmaijing Ching) .
Wife of Chief Minister N Biren Singh, N Hiyainu dedicated the Kiyong (Temple) to the people at the event.
Sana Konung Utra Shanglen Angom Ningthou, Laiyingthou Sanamahi Thougal Kanglup advisor Naorembam Amengba and Laiyingthou Sanamahi Thougal Kanglup Luchingpurel Oinam Menjor Khuman and others attended the event.
Speaking at the event, Naorembam Amengba said that the foundation stone for construction of the Kiyong was laid by titular King Leishemba Sanajaoba on 7th day of Kalen, 2016 at Selloi Langmai Ching.
The Kiyong was made possible by the generous donations of the people and efforts of Foundation For University of Sanamahi Culture and Laiyingthou Sanamahi Thougal Kanglup, he said.
The Kiyong has the potential to become a favourite pilgrimage tourist destination, he added and urged everyone to preserve the aged culture and indigenous religion.
Amengba furthered that the underlying objective of the Kiyong is to develop a place of study (university) at Langmai Ching where future generations can learn the aged culture and tradition which have roots in Sanamahi religion.
The university will also teach indigenous art forms-dances, songs, Thang-Ta and Sagol Kangjei (polo) etc, he said.
Once the university comes live, it will attract many students, followers of Sanamahi religion from places other than Manipur, Amengba said underscoring that the university will help introduce indigenous Sanamahi religion, culture and tradition to outside world.
Sanamahi devotees from Assam and Tripura attended the inauguration of the Kiyong .
