Imphal, May 08 2020:
The All Manipur Art and Culture Students' Union (AMACSU) has submitted a representation to Governor Najma Heptula, who is also Chairperson of Manipur State Kala Akademi (MSKA), to intervene and give charge of Secretary MSKA to Director Art and Culture until appointment of a regular Secretary is made.
The Director Art and Culture in the past had held in charge of Secretary MSKA for many years and he is the most suitable person to take the charge of the post till appointment of a regular Secretary, said the union in its representation.
AMACSU for the last few years has been demanding appointment of a regular Secretary of MSKA.
Ksh Jugindro Singh, a well known theatre director and former member of Zonal Cultural Centre, who had served as expert member of the Ministry of Culture, Government of India for various projects and schemes was given the charge as Secretary of MSKA on April 27, 2020.However, the next day, another order of the Government cancelled his engagement and Joint Director Art and Culture was given the charge to continue as Secretary in-charge, said AMACSU adding they have taken serious note of the order as an act of "humiliation" to a senior and well known reputed artiste.
After the Minister Art and Culture had clarified about the matter, Commissioner Art and Culture on May 6 had assured that the rules and regulations in respect of MSKA Secretary are being finalised and a regular Secretary will be appointed soon after finalisation, recalled AMACSU appealing Governor for intervention and give charge of Secretary to Director Art and Culture until a regular Secretary is appointed.
