Kayisii stresses on education as the need of the hour

The role of parents in children's education is immense and immeasurable, said Tribal and Hill Areas Development Minister, N Kayisii, while addressing the Parent's Day celebration at St Xavier's High School, Makhan as the chief guest, today .
He stated that parents are true visible gods and the first teachers who educate the children .
Underlining the importance of education, he asserted that compulsory education for all sections of the society is a crucial and urgent need of the hour .
Kayisii encouraged all the parents, especially the parents of the St Xavier students, to take extra care and send their children to school without fail .
He lamented that the attitude of most parents in the hills towards imparting quality education to their children is still lacking.
Most parents are illiterate and they do not have the aptitude, resources, time and energy for their children's education, which is a big challenge for the society, particularly for the tribal people .

There is a need to improve the economy and lifestyle of the people in the hill so as to enable them to impart proper education to their children, he noted .
Kayisii pointed out that there is still a huge gap of Educational avenues and facilities between the hills and the valley in Manipur .
"We need qualified teachers to teach the children especially those in the far flung villages", said the Minister .
There is an urgent demand for better educational facilities and technical know-how in the hills, he asserted .
Kayisii also pointed out that examination centres are very much lacking in the hills and added that the Ministry will coordinate with the State Government and the department concerned to establish such facilities in the hills, in-order to bridge the gaps .
He appreciated the management of the school and the Catholic Missionaries for introducing educational institutions and other quality disciplines in the region .
DC, Senapati, Athem Muivah, EM-ADC, Senapati, K David Khrasi, retd Commissioner, Henry K Hriini, founding member of the school, S P Peter Khrasi, founding member and first headmaster of the school along graced the occasion as dignitaries .
In the earlier part of the day, the Minister also inspected the landslide affected area of Maram Centre village and interacted with the local community leaders and the affected victims .
The Minister listened to the grievances of the locals and shared the concern to preserve nature and plant more trees to maintain the eco-balance in the area.
