Imphal, September 07 2018:
Deeply concerned with the burning crisis in Manipur University, Shiv Sena Manipur State president M Tombi has appealed the competent authority of the Governmentto remove and replace Professor AP Panday or send him on leave further.
Holding Professor AP Panday responsible for disrupting normalcy which had returned after months of agitations, he, said that Panday has insulted the people and the State.
"AP Panday's actions are an insult to the people and State," he said and added that he has "no regards" for the University community and the thousands of students who depend on the University.
He was speaking to media persons at a press meet at the party's office in Babupara, Imphal today.
He appealed the State Government, Centre and the President of India to intervene and end the drama in the University which has the potential to destroy careers of thousands of students and the fate of an entire State.
Concerned with the alleged assault on AMSU volunteers and artists by four suspected NSCN-IM cadres at Nungba Bazar, M Tombi said that the incident was not a first and appealed the State Government to establish a National Highway Protection Force.
M Tombi said that the party has been demanding institution of a National Highway Protection Force since the past 10/15 years.
The party had staged sit-ins at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi over the demand, he said and continued that the establishment of the National Highway Protection Force will solve many issues the passengers have been facing on the road over the years.
Many outfits and unnamed groups had looted and killed many innocent civilians on National Highways, he said.
"Many such incidents occurred in the past and will continue to happen in future until the Government institute such a force that can counter these uncalled actions," he said emphasising the need for the Highway Protection Force.
Alleging that the NSCN-IM has been conducting organised loots and collecting illegal taxes from passengers on the National Highway for years, he said that it is high time for the Government to institute the much needed protection force to counter and prevent such incidents.
He alleged that the NSCN-IM is enjoying "freedom" behind the "Peace Talk" after it had signed cease fire agreement with Government of India Meanwhile, the party welcomed its new members at the press meet today.
