School students protest terror attack

Almost all the schools located in the valley districts of Manipur staged protest demonstrations and rallies decrying the Sangakpham bomb attack which claimed the lives of two young students along with three others in addition to injuring eight people.
While students of some schools took out protest rallies, many other schools staged sit-in-protest at the gates of their respective schools under the aegis of DESAM and KSA.
Students of Chingmeirong Primary School where blast victims, Chingtham Neha alias Apik and Philaso Awaungshi Tangkhul were studying also joined the protest demonstration.
Since the day of the terror students of Class III have not come to school.
On being enquired, they said that they were afraid of another bomb attack, said a teacher of the school.
Notably, Neha and Philaso were studying in Class III in the same school.
On Tidim Road, thousands of school students took out a joint protest rally starting fro Herbert School and Comet.
After reaching Kwakeithel Bazar, the students turned back to their respective schools.
Three students of COMET broke down in the course of the rally and they were rushed to RIMS.
Talking to media persons about the protest demonstration, DESAM assistant general secretary Arambam Thoithoi and KSA education secretary N Surchand said that the protest demonstration was being staged in all the schools in denunciation of the Sangakpham terror attack of August 1, 2011 .
Whether the bomb was planted by pseudo revolutionary gangs or counter revolutionaries, Thoithoi and Surchand said that one and all should condemn such acts of planting bombs in public places.
Saying those who planted the bombs had no respect for human lives, they appealed to all concerned not to repeated such inhuman activities in future.
