Noney, October 04 2021:
The Affected Landowners Committee Longmai on Monday staged a mass rally demanding fair compensation for NH-37, Imphal-Jiribam Road Double Lane expansion to the affected landowners at Longmai Noney Bazar.
The rally was staged by the affected landowner committee to protest the alleged mishandling of the matter by DC Noney in favour of some 'Compensation runners'.
It may be mentioned that in 2015 when the land demarcation for NH-37 Double Lane expansion project was carried out by BRO, 20 metres or 10 metre side-by-side from the middle of the road was reportedly marked for Bazar or Settlement area.
In this regard, the committee has alleged that several disparities were found in the land demarcation carried out by NHIDCL.
The Affected Landowners Committee Longmai further urged the concerned authority to look into the matter at the earliest and fix a fair compensable amount for the affected landowners at the earliest.
The rally began at Longmai Bazar Shed and went to Bridge Point and Traffic Point before culminating at Market shed.
It was followed by a public meeting attended by various leaders and members of the affected committee.
Placards with the slogans, 'We want Transfer of Noney DC', 'We want Re-asses & Re-Estimate', 'We want spot Verification', 'No Disbursement until problems resolved', 'Our Land our Rights', etc were used during the rally.
