Indian Delegates (represented by Manipur) to the 2nd Surin International Cultural Exchange 2018, Thailand, were greeted by Art and Culture Minister L Jayantakumar Singh, in a simple function held in his office chamber at Old Secretariat, today.
Speaking at the occasion, L Jayantakumar said that the rich art and culture of the State is nowadays gaining momentum/attention.
All necessary steps will be taken up to uplift and promote the art and culture of the State in consultation with the Chief Minister, he added.
The Minister also distributed trophies and citations to the delegates as well as congratulated the artistes for achieving Outstanding Performance Trophy' and 'Entertaining Performance Award'.
The cultural troupe from Manipur, led by M Laxmikumar, Commissioner, Art and Culture, comprised of eight artistes from Rhythms of Manipur and eight artistes from Sangeet Kala Sangam, Khurai.
In the 2nd Surin International Cultural Exchange 2018, the artistes showcased seven different cultural programmes/performances including Maibi-Jagoi, Thang-Taa, Pung-Cholom, Dhol-Cholom, Kabui-Jagoi in seven different locations throughout Thailand.
Attending the programme, M Laxmikumar, said that the aim of the cultural event is to build new relations and strengthen the bond between different countries through cultural exchange.
Joint Director Art and Culture, Manipur, L Keshorjit Singh, coordinator of the troupe, Sherjeet Singh and numerous other personalities were also present at the programme.
