Dimapur, March 02 2009:
In an interview between NSCN-IM's Kilo Kilonser (Home Minister), Keditsu Tsuzuh and Ngathingkhui Jagoi of Easten Mirror, a Dimapur based English daily, at the Hebron Camp, the CHQ of the GPRN/NSCN, the 60 year-old Kilo Kilonser is reported to have said that there is no question of the NSCN-IM handing over the murderer of Dr Thingnam Kishan, 'Lt Col' H Ningshen to the Government of Manipur.
However, NSCN-IM will give him the befitting punishment for his inhuman crime, the Kilo Kilonser is reported to have said.
The following are excerpts from the interview published in Eastern Mirror, dated 2nd March, 2009.
"EM: In the backdrop of the killing of Dr Kishan, SDO of Kasom Khullen, there has been a hue and cry in Manipur.
The government of Manipur and civil organisations are demanding that your government should hand over Lt Col H Ningshen to the Manipur government.
Is GPRN considering handing over the erring official to Manipur govt? If not, what kind of degree of punishment does NSCN intend to give to the guilty official?
KT: Why should we hand over Ningshen to Manipur? They are demanding what is not possible for us.
Yes, he has committed serious crime as per his confession reports.
So we will hold his trial in our court.
We have our own court and we will award him punishment according to the degree of his crime.
We will definitely punish him and all those people involved in the crime.
Never doubt that.
But it may take time because we have to still investigate into it.
As of now, we cannot tell you the exact degree of punishment to award him and his accomplices.
I will, therefore, appeal our Meitei brethrens not to insert communal tones into the issue.
NSCN government has its own law and those guilty will be tried within our judicial system.
