Imphal, March 01 2019:
A team comprised of Social Welfare Department representatives and ICHAM former president N Rajendro, went and inspected the condition of a disabled mother and daughter duo who has been homeless and living under the roof of a relative.
Apart from meeting the individual, the team also began taking up steps to build a house for them as well as to ensure proper availability of various schemes for the mother and daughter.
The mother and daughter have been identified as Ningombam Pikpi (59) and Ningombam Manda Devi (27).Pikpi was married to a man from Nungei, Imphal East but unfortunately lost her husband while she was pregnant and as such, she returned and has been staying at the house of her relative at Huidrom Awang Leikai since the last many years with her daughter.
As her relatives were also extremely poor, they could not be of much help to her aside from providing her and her daughter enough food twice a day.
However, after ICHAM former president N Rajendro approached the Social Welfare Department to do the needful, the Department sent its representatives to look into the matter.
Speaking to media persons, the inspection team said that a home will be build for the disabled mother and daughter duo at the earliest and other schemes like CMST will be provided.
They also urged the people to inform the Departments concerned in case they come across any deprived people who are yet to get any benefits from the State Government.
