Lamka, February 28 2013:
An innovative waiting build built by Lamka Building Society was inaugurated today at New Bazar as a prototype for about seven such sheds the society is planning to build within the township.
Sporting a metro look, complete with stainless steel seats and transparent plastic wall on three sides, the novel waiting shed according to its developer is designed to give the town a facelift.
Built at the cost of about 1.4 lakh, the waiting shed has a two sided advertisement board that is intended to draw Rs 15 a day for maintenance from the advertisers.
'That way we hope to upkeep them (sheds),' said LBS Manager CT Lian Guite.
Deputy Commissioner of Churachandpur Jacintha Lazarus, who had formally inaugurated the shed today, said she appreciated the LBS initiatives to improve the township without any financial assistance from the government.
She had also appealed to the general public to follow the footprint of LBS and help in preserving the sheds they have erected.
