Prison smart course underway for female inmates

The eight-day 'Prison Smart Course' exclusively for female inmates of the Manipur Central Jail, Old Lambulane organised by Art of Living, Imphal Centre under the sponsorship of Manipur Central Jail is in progress at Old Lambulane.
The course was started on May 26 and will conclude on June 2 .
A total of 16 inmates participated in the prison smart course.
The stress free management course includes yoga and other activities to improve the mind, health and spiritual conditions of the prisoners.
Speaking at the function, senior faculty of Art of Living, Imphal Centre and State co-ordinator Sh Roshinikumar said that the main objective of the course is to impart yoga and its allied activities in its fullest form in order to strengthen the mental, physical and emotion of the inmates.
He added that individuals can learn to cope with stress, depression, health problem and various other psychological problems through such regular practices.
SP, Central Jail Th Subhashchandra stated that Art of Living or Yoga has no link with any religion and it preaches the teachings of yoga to learn the central meaning of life to lead a better life with positive energy.
He further asserted that the Manipur Central Jail mainly organised such course for the inmates so that they would learn to live a better life, inspire the people and give hope in days to come.
No one is born a criminal but it is the negative environment which influences man to become so.
In order to avoid or ignore such negative aspects in life, one need patience, strong will and positive attitude to face such obstacle in life.
He also appealed to all the inmates to keep practising the Art of Living so that it rejuvenates and gives the moral impetus to lead a new life and to become a good citizen.
The course was conducted by Dr RK Noni, a teacher of the Art of Living Imphal Centre, who is also the MO of 7 MR.The function was also attended by Inspector S Touthang and other police officials of the Manipur Central Jail, Old Lambulane.
